Sheffield, UK, 7th September 2026 – MachineWorks Ltd is pleased to announce that SolidCAM, a leading supplier of advanced CAD/CAM solutions, has enhanced the SolidCAM Simulator by integrating MachineWorks GPU into the recently released SolidCAM 2026.
By exploiting the high level of parallelism available in modern GPUs, MachineWorks GPU is able to create an accurate in-process stock model in seconds, rather than in minutes or hours. This offers users the ability to quickly visualize and review all, or key portions of, large machining jobs without having to run the full simulation until the final setup has been checked and confirmed.
For the majority of machining operations MachineWorks GPU computes intersections based on analytic equations, rather than tessellated representations of the swept geometry, providing both high levels of intersection point precision and multi-core scalability.
Dr Emil Somekh, CEO of SolidCAM commented “MachineWorks has been a great partner for what will soon be three decades. They are known in the industry for developing great technology, and their new GPU-based simulation is no exception. The performance benefits are obvious, and over time we believe they will fundamentally change how simulation is used by our customers.”
Anthony Calderone, Senior Vice President, Applied AI in Manufacturing, added “We are really impressed by the new GPU raytracing. This allows highly accurate and interactive inspection of surface finish as well as distance of the in-process stock from the designed part. SolidCAM Simulator has supported CPU raytracing for some releases, and, whilst very accurate, it could be difficult to use interactively due to the time taken to generate each ray-traced image. For SolidCAM 2026 we found the GPU raytrace is so fast it can be turned on all the time.”
Dr Fenqiang Lin, Managing Director of MachineWorks, commented, “We are very pleased that another longstanding MachineWorks partner has chosen to integrate MachineWorks GPU into their product suite. We are continuing to further develop the GPU technology and plan to deliver GPU-based full machine kinematics and collision detection later this year. It will then be possible to compute advanced verifications of complex milling jobs in a fraction of the time that was previously possible.”
With more than 40 years of CAM development experience, SolidCAM is one of the world's leading independent CAM companies, delivering advanced CNC programming technology designed to maximize machine productivity. Founded in 1984 by Dr. Emil Somekh, SolidCAM today serves more than 22,000 customers worldwide, through more than 400 employees, in 11 branches, and a global network of around 80 resellers.
SolidCAM provides a complete range of CAM solutions for milling, turning, simultaneous 5-axis, multi-channel mill-turn and Swiss-type CNC machines, including its patented iMachining technology. SolidCAM provides seamless integration with SOLIDWORKS, and is expanding beyond CAM through SolidShop, its digital manufacturing ecosystem connecting CNC programming with shop-floor operations, data control, machine monitoring and AI-driven manufacturing tools.
